How to make an Advent wreath
What you need
 |
Please prepare the following in advance.
- a wreath made of straw or Styrofoam
- branches of the blue false cypress or the tree of life
- pins with metal head
- a small hammer
- garden scissors
- candle holders to be plugged
- 4 candles
- a plate the size of the Advent wreath
- a glue applicator
- nuts, walnuts, hazelnuts, peanuts, almonds (all uncracked)
- Natural material:
ivy, ilex* from the gardener small pins (larch, pine, alder), tree bark, acorn stalks, apple slices, some straw strings
- Additionally you can take moss rose hips, fire thorn, star anise
* is a protected species in Germany |
Note: If you had bought a Styrofoam wreath wrap it with dark green crepe paper in advance. A wreath made of natural material avoids the problem of dropping needles.

| By using pins fix the branches with the straw wreath, work overlapping. |
Cut the branches to about 15 cm. Put the first branch diagonally onto the straw wreath- so that it sticks out a bit.
Fix it with pins- go on working clockwise.
Again make the branches overlap, so you will get a thick green wreath.
Tip: Tap the pins with a small hammer |

| Plug the candle holders into the Advent wreath. Press those branches that still stick up onto the Advent wreath and fix them with needles. |
Fix the ivy between the candle holders. Decorate the Advent wreath with collected natural material, but do not take too much. Less is more. Stick smaller things such as cones or pieces of the tree bark with the wreath.
You can use slices of fresh fruit that will dry by themselves later on. |
Put the wreath onto a large plate and fill its hole with nuts. Arrange the candles and decorate the wreath with fine straw strings.
